Farewell The Grandmaster.
Bright Obi Echendu/City Profs Educational Foundation (CPEF)
We mourn the exit of a global icon and pillar of strength per excellence- Otunba (Dr.) Michael Olasubomi Balogun, CON. As an Honorary and Distinguished .Member of the CPEF Board of Patrons, the passage to eternal glory of the Olori Omo-Oba Akile Ijebu & The Asiwaju Onigbagbo of Ijebu Christians represent an Irreparable and irreplaceable loss not just to Ijebu Land, Ogun State and Nigeria, but to us who were privileged to associate with his greatness while he lived. An eepitome of love and humanity: We'll surely miss you, Sir! I relish with great nostalgia your ambience, sagacity and generosity when I and partner Oluwole had a rare honour of being in your official audience at your Office Heights at the sprawling First City Plaza, FCMB Corporate HQ in Lagos. You made us friends at that meeting and saved our numbers on your phone. And we were to meet you again, and prayed for Grand Ma, your ailing darling wife, while we came for your kind largesse for the Office at your palatial Olori Omo-Oba Place residence, Ikoyi, Lagos. We take solace that Your Eminence fought a good fight of faith and finished strong at 89. You left indelible legacy on the sands of time. You were at peace with all men and with your maker. May you find peace in Paradise. Amen! Indeed, the titans are going home.
PRAISE TEMPLE ESINNA
It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we bid farewell to Olasubomi Balogun, the founder of First City Monument Bank (FCMB). Balogun was a visionary leader who dedicated his life to building a robust and dynamic financial institution that would empower individuals and businesses in Nigeria and beyond. Born on the 9th of February, 1934 in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, Balogun had a passion for business from a young age. He received his primary school education at Ijebu Ode Grammar School, before proceeding to Government College, Ibadan and University of London where he studied Law. Balogun started his career as a lawyer before venturing into the banking industry. In 1977, he founded City Securities Limited, which later became First City Merchant Bank. The success of this venture led to the establishment of First City Monument Bank in 1982, which went on to become one of the leading banks in Nigeria. Under Balogun's leadership, FCMB became a trailblazer in the banking industry in Nigeria. The bank's innovative products and services have helped many individuals and businesses achieve their objectives, while also providing employment opportunities for thousands of Nigerians. Balogun was not just a successful banker, he was also a philanthropist who was committed to giving back to society. He established the Otunba Tunwase National Paediatric Centre in Ijebu Ode, which provides healthcare services to children from all over Nigeria. Balogun's contributions to the banking industry and society at large have left an indelible mark on Nigeria. His legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. We mourn his passing and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues, while also thanking him for his immeasurable contributions to the growth and development of Nigeria. Rest in peace, Olasubomi Balogun. Adieu, great man. PASTOR PRAISE TEMPLE ESINNA #Salvationminister Praise Esinna Evangelistic Outreach Int'l L.
